Pieter de Koning (1969) was born in Hilversum where he completed the pre-university education programme at Comenius College in 1987. He graduated from the Dutch Law programme at the Vrije Universiteit in 1993, majoring in private law. 

He practiced law in Culemborg from 1994 to 1998 before joining Schelstraete C.S. Advocaten in 1998. 

In the practice, he is active in the company and insolvency law departments (as trustee and administrator in bankruptcy cases), having completed the Insolad study programme for this purpose.
